GMJA1000 Handheld Gas Detector
Handheld instrument for entry checks and walk-round inspection, with an internal sampling pump for reaching enclosed spaces.
Overview
The GMJA1000 is the handheld instrument for people who have to go and find out: pre-entry checks at a manhole, a walk-round of a plant boundary, a survey along a gas main.
An internal sampling pump is what separates it from a diffusion-only handheld. A hose can be lowered into a sump or pushed into a duct, and the reading arrives without anyone leaning over the opening.
The body is aluminium with a single-hand grip, so it can be carried on a ladder or through a confined space without a second hand free.

Technical background
The specification above only makes sense alongside the constraints behind it. These notes explain how the numbers on this page are usually set.
Why calibration needs a certified gas, not the air in the room
Zeroing in ambient air assumes the ambient air contains nothing. In a plant it usually does. Span needs a concentration that someone has measured and certified, or the instrument is being told a number that is not true.
Read the guide →Why confined space testing follows O2, LEL, H2S, CO in that order
The order on a four-gas instrument is not alphabetical or traditional. It runs from the hazard that kills fastest to the one that kills slowest, and one channel cannot be trusted until another has been read.
